Petite Fashion Challenge No. 11: Vacation Vogue

The challenge: Put together an outfit made for sightseeing. It should be one that will be comfortable for walking around in and can last you from the early morning until dinner and drinks in the evening. Plus, you're on vacation, so you'd better make sure you look good in photos, which you'll have for years to come.
You can choose just one outfit but vary it by adding or taking off layers or accessories to take you from the a.m. to the p.m. and make one outfit easier to last through the day.

I wouldn't call myself a trendy tourist, but I do try to look good and be comfortable when I travel. My husband and I really like to pack in a lot of sightseeing, eating and exploring while on vacation, so I need outfits that are comfy, easy to pack and can last all day.

Something I think is great for this are pants that can be rolled up and buttoned to form capris. This way you can wear your pants long early in the morning or late at night when it is cold, and roll them up during the afternoon when the sun is out.

I also like to wear a sleeveless top for the heat and bring a thin sweater or cardigan in my bag to throw on if it rains or gets chilly. This is also essential if we'll be visiting a church or temple, where your shoulders and arms need to be covered.

Old Navy white pants that double as capris. LOFT tank and handmade scarf purchased in Laos.
My go-to look for traveling when it's hot.

Add a layer and roll down your pants for later in the day.
Target Xhileration top in XS.

Announcing Petite Fashion Challenge No. 11

UPDATE: The Challenge is now complete. View my entry and see the links to all the participants here.

Vacation Vogue
When going on a vacation, it's hard to bring clothes for every possible scenario. There's only so much room in your suitcase. But beyond that, choosing outfits to wear each day while sightseeing can be daunting when the climate is different than you are used to or you're going to multiple types of destinations.  You also are usually taking tons of photos and don't want to be in the same outfit in every photo.

So, the challenge:
Put together an outfit made for sightseeing.

Jungle outfit

My husband and I have been busy planning a vacation to Southeast Asia for the fall. Thus, I've been shopping very sparingly, but when I do hit the stores, it's with the trip in mind.

I call this my "Laos jungle outfit" because the leaves will make me blend into the leaves in the jungle :)

The shorts and white blouse are from Forever 21. I wasn't sure about the shorts at first — I mean they're pleated — but I have gotten so many compliments on them everywhere I go; so I guess they are keepers.

This blouse is so light and airy, it is perfect for hot Tennessee weather. It looks great casual or can go prim and proper tucked in to a pencil skirt.

Tank top is from LOFT.
(Keep your eyes peeled for the $5 sales!)
